Take 2 sticks of butter and cut each stick into 8-10 slices each and place in a saucepan.
Using a stovetop, heat the butter on medium heat while whisking or stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.
Keep whisking/stirring as the butter bubbles and foams, then it subsides. The color will transition from the characteristic yellow to light brown then darker brown. This process takes around 10 minutes, so be patient and keep stirring!
When the butter turns dark brown and has a pleasant nutty aroma, it is finished. Time to remove from heat and transfer to heatproof bowl. Do not leave the butter in the pan as this will cause it to continue to cook and burn. Whether you choose to use it immediately or refrigerate for later use, browned butter adds complexity and flavor to endless recipes!

Notes
If the butter turns black and has an unpleasant aroma, it is burnt and should be discarded. Time to start over (trust me, I’ve been there)
