Toasted Coconut Latte (Starbucks Copycat)
The Toasted Coconut Latte is one of the newest Starbucks spring drinks (like our Popular Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato), and it quickly became a favorite thanks to its smooth espresso, creamy milk, and warm toasted coconut sweetness. The flavor is rich but balanced, with a lightly nutty coconut taste that feels comforting rather than overly tropical.
The good news is that this drink is easy to make at home. With a few simple ingredients and the right ratios, it is possible to recreate the same smooth texture and toasted coconut flavor found in the coffee shop version. This homemade version works beautifully both hot and iced, and it can also be made dairy free with either oat milk or coconut milk (see below).
This recipe contains instructions for both the Iced Toasted Coconut Latte and Hot Toasted Coconut Latte.
Why This Toasted Coconut Latte Works

A great copycat latte depends on two things: balanced sweetness and proper milk-to-espresso ratios. The toasted coconut syrup brings a warm, slightly nutty coconut flavor that blends smoothly with espresso instead of overpowering it.
When combined with creamy milk, the result is a latte that feels rich and smooth while still allowing the espresso to shine.

Best Milk Choices for a Toasted Coconut Latte

Different types of milk create slightly different textures and flavors.
- 2% milk – Closest to the classic coffee shop latte texture.
- Whole milk – Richer and creamier.
- Oat milk – A great dairy-free option with excellent texture.
- Coconut milk – Adds extra coconut flavor but can be slightly lighter in body.
Latte Ratios That Always Work

These simple ratios make it easy to scale the recipe.
Standard Latte
- 2 shots espresso
- 1 cup (8 oz) milk
Sweetness Guide
- 1 tablespoon syrup for mild sweetness
- 2 tablespoons syrup for a sweeter drink
Simple Tips for the Best Flavor

- Toast the coconut flakes. Lightly toasted coconut creates a deeper flavor and a more appealing topping.
- Use fresh espresso. Fresh espresso gives the latte the best flavor and aroma.
- Dissolve the syrup in the espresso first. Mixing syrup with hot espresso ensures the sweetness spreads evenly through the drink.
