BLUE BIRD POPPY SEEDS FOR BAKING
These are the world-famous Blue Bird Poppy Seeds. Blue Bird Poppy Seeds are very high-quality poppy seeds sourced from England. If you are looking for flavorful poppy seeds with a rich and nutty aroma, you have come to the right place. These poppy seeds are not chemically treated and do not contain artificial ingredients. The English environment gives these seeds a unique flavor profile that isn’t found anywhere else in the world!
TAKE YOUR BAKING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
You can use these wonderful seeds to take your cooking/baking to the next level. Whether you are a novice in your home kitchen or an experienced owner of a bakery, these poppy seeds will keep your customers coming back for more. The bitterness of these seeds combines perfectly with the deep nutty flavor. They are perfect for your next recipe of rolls, cake, muffins, bread, bagels, yogurt, etc. The satisfying crunch will fill you and your friends/customers with delight.
Although the primary use of these poppy seeds is baking, they can also be added to soaps and lotion as a natural way to exfoliate skin.
OUR PROCESS VERIFIES QUALITY
We’ve created a unique process to ensure that all of our poppy seeds are worthy of the Blue Bird label. We closely inspect the seeds and remove any spoiled seeds that might negatively alter the flavor. We do not tolerate stale or musty seeds, and we maintain proper storage to protect and extend shelf life.
POPPY SEED STATEMENT
All poppy seeds may contain trace amounts of opiate alkaloid residue. Our process removes contaminants; however, your adequate cleaning of the seeds can remove most opioid residue. Prepare poppy seeds for consumption by thoroughly washing seeds in very hot liquid (≥140°F) disposing of the liquid, baking the seeds at 400°F to dry. Do not ingest poppy seed wash or liquid made from washing the poppy seeds; its ingestion is dangerous and may be fatal. Keep this product out of reach of children. I preferred the product they were selling last year. So far this year there is almost no plant material and they just don’t seem to be as fresh as last year.

Hi there! We strive only to provide exceptional seeds to our customers. Due to the natural nature of the product, there are times that a weaker batch may get through. I apologize that you received a subpar shipment. I will reach out to you via email about this issue. Thank you for your feedback!

These used to be the best in existence. However, quality has severely declined. On one hand, can’t really blame the vendor as I’m sure they don’t personally grow the product, and as most know, quality is dependent on soil quality, weather, time of being harvested etc. with really ANY organic product, be it seeds, fruit, veggies etc…
Problem is, I feel the quality should be reflected in the price. When the product is super good, raise them to the current price. When it’s mediocre, lower them.
However, the decline in quality and earthiness seems to be going on with most vendors that sell whole, natural seeds. Combine that with the fact that quality poppy seeds in bulk aren’t as easy to come by anymore (for several reasons) and it’s the perfect recipe for vendors to over charge, simple supply and demand. The prices the vendors pay per lb (easily found online) however, is still fairly low, so the profit margins must be huge.
Regardless- Lone Goose still scores three stars from me because their shipping is phenomenal. They pretty much beat big giant corporations in regards to shipping times. This is very helpful as a small business owner who relies on consistent shipping for my ingredients.
They also score super high for me on packaging. Many other spice, seed, and nut companies I purchase from have flimsy packaging that winds up making the products smell like Grandma’s musty spice cabinet. You can even taste the other spices they’re stored with, so you wind up with product that tastes like garlic, pepper, season salt etc. as seeds absorb a lot of stenches if kept in flimsy bags.
That said, they most certainly aren’t awful, it’s just that many of us loyal customers have gotten spoiled with top notch quality from LGB each and every time. That made the high prices completely worth it.
I’d definitely continue to keep my business with them if the price went down, and for sure if the quality went up, even if the price stayed the same.
Overall, this company is extremely professional, organized, and ultra reliable.
Hoping the quality issue is just a bump in the road. I love forward to resuming business with them as soon as it gets better!
