Instructions

vanilla beans for vanilla bean paste
  1. Grab your vanilla beans and carefully slice into smaller pieces. This will make future processing/blending much easier. Put the pieces aside into a small bowl.
  2. Next, grab the vanilla bean pieces, vanilla extract, and agave nectar. Pour them into your blender or food processor.
  3. Use a strainer to strain out all of the big pieces. I recommend using a stainless steel strainer (less of a mess), but I used a cloth strainer in the video above. Pour the contents of the blender or food processor through your strainer into another container. Take your time to avoid a bigger mess. The container should be air tight with a lid.
  4. Place the lid over the container of completed homemade vanilla bean paste. Store in the fridge for later use.

There you have it! You’ve just made your own Homemade Vanilla Bean Paste, and I bet your kitchen smells great! This ingredient can be a game-changer for all of your future baking adventures. Most importantly, I feel like it adds extra love and flavor to every bite. Whether you are whipping up your next batch of cookies or just jazzing up your latte or cup of coffee, this vanilla bean paste will definitely make it taste so much better! I also hope you’ve used this as an excuse to make some fun memories with loved ones.

I might have missed it on here, but can you substitute in the paste instead of extract for standard recipes? If so, what’s the conversion? I’m pretty new to baking so sorry for the silly question

Thanks for the question Mandy! You can substitute 1:1 with vanilla extract. That means 1 tsp of Vanilla Paste = 1 tsp Vanilla Extract. In my experience, the paste is very flavorful. Hope you make some homemade vanilla paste and enjoy baking!
