Pistachio Latte Taste

I always feel awkward writing this section because I’m not good at describing flavors, but I’ll do my best. A pistachio latte is a warm, nutty delight with a subtly sweet and creamy profile. The rich, roasted flavor of the pistachios pairs beautifully with the velvety smoothness of steamed milk, creating a perfectly balanced beverage. A hint of sweetness from the pistachio syrup enhances the natural nuttiness without overpowering, while the espresso adds a touch of boldness to round out the flavor. This latte feels like a familiar warmth in a cup, while offering a unique twist on your everyday coffee experience. Perfect for any time of year, it’s both simple and sophisticated.

Pistachio Latte Recipe

I have separated this recipe into two sections. The first will make the pistachio syrup, and the second will use the syrup to make a latte. This recipe makes roughly 1 cup of pistachio syrup, which is enough to make today’s latte and 7 more. That calculation is based on using 2 tbsp of syrup for each latte, which is the most common, but some that prefer sweeter lattes may use 3 tbsp.

Syrup Ingredients

pistachio syrup homemade 2 bottles
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Unsalted Pistachios (no shells)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Latte Ingredients

  • Double shot of espresso (or 2-3 oz of very strong coffee)
  • 2-3 tbsp Pistachio Syrup (from above)
  • 1 cup of Milk (or non-dairy alternative)

Instructions

  1. Grab a small or medium saucepan and pour in the water first, then the sugar. Set your stove to medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a low boil.
  2. Add pistachios and continue bringing to a low boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. This is where the flavor really builds.
  4. Take it off the heat, let it cool for a bit, and strain out the pistachios using a fine mesh strainer.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract. Now the syrup is ready to make the Pistachio Latte!
  6. Take 2-3 tbsp of the fresh syrup and pour it into your chosen mug! You can store the rest in an airtight container in the fridge.
  7. Brew a double shot of espresso, or you can use 2-3 oz of very strong coffee. Add it to your Chosen Mug.
  8. Steam 1 cup (8 oz) of milk or non-dairy alternative by using steamer/frother or heat in small saucepan until it’s steaming.
  9. Pour steamed/frothed milk into your Chosen Mug, and mix everything together. You’re ready to enjoy the latte!
