Taste & Flavor

The caramel brulee latte has a rich, creamy flavor with just the right balance of sweetness and bold espresso. The caramelized sugar topping adds a subtle crunch and a deep, toasty sweetness that blends perfectly with the smooth, velvety milk. Each sip brings a comforting mix of warm caramel notes and a hint of vanilla, making it a treat that’s both cozy and satisfying. It’s a great choice when you’re craving something a little sweet but still want that strong coffee kick.

Homemade Caramel Brulee Latte Recipe

I tried to make this recipe as straight forward as possible. If you need a stronger latte (I usually do), you can double the espresso/coffee. Also, if you are in a hurry, you can skip the caramelized sugar, but it does take it over the top. I love this recipe!

Latte Ingredients

  • Single shot of espresso (or 2-3 oz cup strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (check out our Small Batch Vanilla Extract)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Caramelized sugar topping (see below)

Caramelized Sugar Topping Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

espresso for caramel brulee latte
  1. Start by brewing a single shot of espresso—if you’ve got an espresso machine, great! If not, no worries, just make some strong coffee and use a double shot of that instead.
  2. Heat up your milk in a saucepan over medium heat. You want it nice and hot, but don’t let it start bubbling away. Once it’s warmed up, grab a frother (or a whisk if you’re feeling old-school) and whip it up until it’s creamy with a little frothy goodness on top.
  3. Now for the fun part—grab your favorite mug and add a good drizzle of caramel sauce along with a splash of vanilla. Pour in that fresh espresso and give it a quick stir to mix all that caramel magic together. Finally, top it off with your frothy milk and give it one last gentle stir.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and turns a golden amber color. Quickly remove from heat and drizzle onto a parchment-lined surface. Once hardened, break it into small pieces.
  5. Top your latte with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce, and a sprinkle of the caramelized sugar pieces on top for a delicious crunch.
  6. It’s ready to enjoy, drink up while it is warm! Try it with our Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins!
